Yeah, that was pretty heavy handed. In fact, of my six readers, I just lost four of you. But, that’s ok. I can’t force you to the reality of abortion. If there was such a case though that would absolutely slap you in the face, it would be that of Gianna Jessen.
I’m not sure how a person is able to cope with knowing she was supposed to be killed by her mother and the medical industry in a joint murder. I make that statement out of pure weakness. Why? Because no matter what I do, I can’t seem to muster the guts to make sense of it. The impression left upon a person after learning she survived a failed abortion must be similar to carrying the weight of world on one’s shoulders. Thankfully Gianna is well rooted in her faith and seeks to help us understand.
I have intended this blog entry to be edgy, not because I’m trying to gather readers or because I need the attention. Instead, I would like to stop the “PC” notion that using more palatable words and holding more soft responses are somehow appropriate or proper. When I hear somebody zip off the standard “Woman’s right to choose” poppycock I not only reject it instantly on shear principle, but more importantly, I notice they specifically left off the last word in that phrase, “murder.” That omission is not an accident.
First of all, there is no such thing as a woman’s right to choose the fate of another’s life. Sure, in a sense, that could argued in the case of her and 11 others for the purposes of a jury trial. That’s not the kind of choice we’re talking about here. We’re saying, in no certain terms, that a woman is capable and able of killing her yet-to-born child. …And it’s ok. Both are wrong. So what I’d like to do instead of attacking how horrible this notion really is, would be to simply add the word “murder” and finish the sentence of every soft headed, morally flexible, and thoroughly un-Christian person that mutters it.
Trust me. I’ve been trying it now for about six months. The reactions are typically horrifying. Most people are simply offended that you’d even say that, much less make them think about it. But that’s the important part – we need to make them think about it. I can pound drums and sing songs at the top of my lungs all day long and it probably won’t convince that many people. Why? Because they aren’t interested in hearing it from me. They simply tune me out. But… If I can say one word very quickly when they drop that famous bit of propaganda, then it tends to give them pause. Nothing more needs to be said unless they ask for it. If a person reconsiders the fact they are ending the baby’s life, then they’ll realize eventually, even painfully, that abortion is the literal definition of murder. Apologetics 101. 😉
I believe to my core that the conclusions we arrive at internally come with fierce conviction. So will it be done with those that today see abortion as acceptable. That sure beats me being aggressive in my rhetoric to them. While I know I’m correct in my belief, the fact is not everyone, and in most cases few, are willing to have that conversation with an open mind. Whether they even want to or not, many people simply can’t embrace the idea of a dialogue about abortion, so they hit the brakes.
While my blog entry title cut like a knife, it was intentional. It was to weed out the tender and those who don’t want the exchange. So what we typically have left are the folks willing to think about this and help save the unborn. If this method or the consideration of it’s application are helpful to someone somewhere and it saves a child, then the furrowed brows I’ll get for my entry here are well worth the effort. Besides, I don’t think they can raise a welt on my fanny. I answer to Him, not them.
If you can watch this video without being impacted, I’d be really surprised. Gianna’s story is moving, unique, and inherently American. I’m so glad God had a plan for her and it appears to be playing out like this. Take a moment, watch this, and then continue reading below afterwards.

What did you notice?
I could sense and feel her sense of celebration in life itself. Her joy of life and giving were evident. She offers and continues to offer forgiveness. Her conviction is stirring to my very soul. When you can be burnt alive inside and out, survive an abortion, coexist with a debilitating disease, and manage to burst with life and smiles while you plead sense to a panel of post turtles, is there a greater example of modern Faith???
“If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were mine?” – Gianna Jessen
Proverbs 31:8-9 – Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.
“Is my life less valuable due to my cerebral palsy?” – Gianna Jessen
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
“It is often from the weakest among us that we learn wisdom.” – Gianna Jessen
Romans 5:3-4 – Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope
“I wish to speak to the men listening to me. You are made for greatness. You were born to defend women and children, not to use and abandon us, nor sit idly by while you know we are being harmed, and I am asking you to be brave.” – Gianna Jessen
1 Corinthians 16:13 – Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong
So the next time you hear anyone, anywhere, that zips off the line “It’s a woman’s right to choose,” help them consider the truth. Before they eek out the “z” sound in the word “choose” try exclaiming “murder” and see what happens. I’d do so in a manner of clarity for them, rather than that of being aggressive. That’s how I have been approaching it. …With some results too I might add.
The elections we’ll see this fall are a continual test for Christians. Can you in good Faith vote for a candidate that somehow justifies the murder of unborn children? You better think about that one a bit. It’s becoming my litmus test for all elected officials. If you can’t get that question right, there’s no sense asking any others.
If Gianna can be salt and light, cannot we?
