Welcome

21 things modern men need to stop doing?

My response you ask?  “Only 21?”

I recently read an article from Chad Howse titled “21 Things Modern Men Need to Stop Doing” and it got me thinking.  I need to warn you up front, there’s a little color in the language Chad used, but it’s not what I’d call “X rated” by any means.  He’s simply being honest and confrontational at the same time.  I’m ok with both.  As you read down through his list of 21 things we men should drop like a hot tater, you may notice a stark reality.  Most all the items on his list came  right out of Proverbs in some place or another.  Granted, you can do that with a lot since Proverbs is chocked full of proverbs, but let’s think about this for a moment.

Take the time to go read his article.  It won’t steal but 6 minutes from you.  Then apply them to what I’m putting forth here.  As I read down through them, all I could think is how this list was summing up what Christian men are supposed to be.  While the author doesn’t come right out and say it, he’s describing, mostly, how to hold yourself as a Christian leader among men, women, and society.

Aren’t we supposed to let go of vanity, complaining, porn, entitlement, fear, blame, insecurity, and a myriad of other things in order to live and lead a better and more productive Christian lifestyle?  I’d say “Amen” to that one…

Am I a sinner?  Sure.  I’m quite certain if you’re reading this, you are too.  That’s probably the safest bet of all time too by the way.  But I can shed the dead weight too.  Am I right?  We’re supposed to be avoiding sin, recognizing it, and stopping it.  Ol’ Chad wrote up a nice little list for us to ponder.  Too bad he missed the mark with a Biblical conclusion, but the take-away is the same.

Titus 2:7-8 – in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

Be salt and light my friends…
