Welcome

I’m weary, and I hurt, and I worry, but then…

God sends you a message…

The election period was rough.  People were and still are behaving stupidly.  I was labeled a racist for no more than simply being light skinned.  I was labeled a bully for no more than holding an opinion the label maker didn’t share.  I wasn’t terribly enthused about the short term future.  I was having a very ho hum day and hadn’t been thinking really upbeat and Christian thoughts.

Then, out of the blue, I was sent a message from an emerging friend.  This fine lady and her husband have moved into this community and we’ve visited with them a bit.  We’re in the infancy of our relationship and we had discussed their search for a new church.  I was hoping they’d take me up on the offer to join us.  Yet, that hadn’t transpired.  This lady and I haven’t probably shared a total of five minutes of direct conversation yet, beyond small talk.  Yet, through what I can only assume have been conversations with others, my facebook wall, and other public factors she has formulated somewhat of an opinion of me.  …And surprise!  It wasn’t terrible.

She sent me the video below and wrote, “I heard this song this morning and it reminded me of you guys.  😉  Thanks for always sharing your faith and reaching out to others!”

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

How great is that!  It looks like the Big Guy gave me what I needed it, when I needed it.  I was kind of down in the dumps, and was instantly uplifted by the message from her.  More importantly I was again reminded that spreading the Word is the right thing for me to be doing and it helps people and makes a difference, even if I don’t see it at the moment.

I was so touched to receive that message.  I had never heard that particular song before either, so here it is.  I’ll simply leave you with it.  It’s a great song and I thank God for delivering me the message, and through the song it was clear, “Do Something!”

Salt and light my friends…
